As the Greenest City program comes to a close, we warmly invite you to join us for a special gathering:

🌱 Farewell Greenest City Potluck
Date: Wednesday, August 27
Time: 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Location: Milky Way Garden – 87 Milky Way Lane, Toronto

This will be a warm event to share food, memories, and appreciation with those who have been part of the GC program.

Sadly, due to a lack of funding, West Neighbourhood House has made the difficult decision to end the Greenest City program. While this marks the end of a chapter, we are proud of what we’ve accomplished together and are incredibly grateful for your contributions.. We want to take this opportunity to thank each of you for your role in making it a success.
Please bring a dish to share if you’re able. We look forward to gathering with you to share memories, food, and gratitude for all that we've accomplished together.

The Parkdale Fresh Produce Market started today! Every Wednesday from 4-7 at Masaryk Cowan Park. Fresh, gorgeous produce and our lovely vendors Sonam’s Momos, Mashela Samosas, Norma’s Jewelery and dehyraded fruit! Yum.

The Parkdale Community Food Market is BACK! 🥦

We’re thrilled to announce that the Parkdale Community Food Market is returning this summer — and we’re looking for volunteers to help make it amazing!

Hosted by the Greenest City Program at West Neighbourhood House, the market will run every Wednesday from July 30 – August 20 at Masaryk Park (220 Cowan Ave).

🕓 Open to the public: 4 PM – 7 PM
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Volunteer shifts: 2 PM – 8 PM

This is a fun and rewarding way to:
✅ Connect with local farmers & artisans
✅ Enjoy the outdoors
✅ Make new friends
✅ Taste delicious homegrown food
✅ Earn volunteer hours for school
✅ Receive a reference letter

Volunteer Roles Include:
• Set Up & Take Down
• Produce Sales
• Traffic Control
• Info Booth
• Market Promotion (Flyer Distribution)
• Kids’ Activities (Arts & Crafts)

📋 Shift Times:
• Setup: 2–4 PM
• Market Roles: 4–7 PM
• Takedown: 7–8 PM

🌿 Calling all gardeners and nature lovers! 🌿

Join Greenest City for a Native Pollinator Planting Event in the Milky Way Garden! 🌼🐝

📅 Thursday, July 31st
🕓 4–6 PM
📍 Milky Way Garden (87 Milky Way, Parkdale)

We’ll be planting hundreds of native pollinator species in the swale — a shallow, grassy area that helps manage stormwater and provides a vital habitat for pollinators. 🌧️🌱

This is a great chance to:
🌸 Learn about native vs. non-native species
🐝 Support local pollinators
🌿 Get your hands dirty planting
📚 Take part in a hands-on session led by Melissa Coiffe, Facilitator from the Seeds Library

✨ Snacks provided
