September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️

Did you know that approximately one-quarter of families of children being treated for cancer lose more than 40 percent of their total household income, while one-third experienced housing, energy or food insecurity within 6 months of diagnosis.

This is huge. And also the reason we give our shirts to families for free.

We offer 4 free shirts to any child with a port *within Canada so that kids may have access to our shirts without incurring any additional costs.

Restock! We’ve just added about 30 new shirts to our site, mostly girl size 8 and boy sizes 7 and 8. We’re working on getting more up, but it’s a slow process!

We still have room in our student volunteer event this Saturday if you have a teen in East Toronto who is looking for some hours! Check out our post from last week or DM us for more info 💛

We are hosting our inaugural student volunteer event on Saturday, September 19. We are looking for high school students to help us package, photograph and upload shirts to our website.

This will be an onsite event at Zippaport HQ in East Toronto. Space is limited! DM us to register and we’ll send you a signup link with all the details 💛

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️

Over 1700 kids are diagnosed with Cancer in Canada every year. Our mission is to provide each of them with a fun and functional shirt that makes port access easier.

We took a bit of a social media break over the summer, but we have been busy IRL, sending out shirts to families, on-boarding new sewists and planning out some CCAM activities.

Zippaport is 6️⃣! 🎂🎈🎂🎈

We launched Zippaport 6 years ago today and we want to celebrate! In honour of birthday, we’re excited to offer our warehouse stock to families for free 💛

Warehouse stock shirts are Zippaport shirts not yet listed on our website, which means we don’t have photos and will not be taking any special requests - the shirts you receive will be the size you order, but the sleeve length and design will be random.

There is no limit to the number of warehouse stock shirts you can order (subject to availability) - so grab a shirt and get another shirt for every day of the week!

*Please be reasonable with the number of shirts you order, and only order for yourself so everyone has a chance to get some of these shirts!

We’re back after a week of summer vacay, and right back into it. 25 shirts have been mailed out to families across Canada, 75 shirts dropped to a sewing group in Peterborough and another 100 to be prepped for a September sew-a-thon. We’ve been keeping our teen volunteers busy, folding and photographing shirts that have been sewn. We’re also planning for our upcoming birthday celebration and of course, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September 💛

We want to give a huge THANK YOU to Hudson for hosting a Zippaport shirt drive with his Scouts Troop!

Hudson wanted to do something special for his Community Service project, and chose supporting Zippaport as a way to honour his friend Alex who bravely fought cancer for 764 days.

Hudson started out with a goal of $650 and 114 shirts, and surpassed that goal with a donation of $820 and 116 shirts. 💛💛💛
