🖤 CALL FOR SUPPORT: PRISONERS’ JUSTICE DAY TORONTO 2025 🖤
We’re calling on our community to show up and stand with incarcerated people. This August, Incarcerated Voters of Ontario and .anewvision are organizing Prisoners’ Justice Day in Toronto — and we need your help to make it happen.
Prisoners’ Justice Day (PJD) is not a fundraiser, a festival, or a celebration. It’s a day of mourning. A day of action. A day to honour the lives of those who have died behind bars — often from neglect, violence, and abandonment.
On August 10, people inside will refuse to eat or work in memory of those lost. Outside, we’ll gather to echo that resistance and amplify the fight against the prison-industrial complex.
This event is by and for people impacted by incarceration — and that means mutual aid is key.
We’re not backed by big institutions. We’re powered by solidarity.
Here’s where you come in:
We’re raising funds to cover basic costs like:
Honoraria for speakers with lived experience
Accessibility supports
Materials for art, banners, and protest visuals
Transportation for folks coming from far
Food for attendees to break fast
Every dollar helps. Every share counts.
This isn’t charity — it’s solidarity.
If you’ve ever asked “how can I support prison justice?” — this is one real, concrete way.
Donate if you can. Share if you can’t. Show up if you're able.
