SSA Nationals 2026 Networking Event 📸

04/28/2026

This past weekend, we partnered with SSA Nationals and SSA York to host an unforgettable evening of networking, meaningful conversations with industry professionals and listen to an engaging panel discussion of those sharing their career journeys. Students had the opportunity to connect, learn how to jump-start their careers, and build new relationships for their future. Through hearing firsthand about the panelist’s career challenges and successes, everyone left feeling inspired and equipped with knowledge for pursuing their own paths. Thank you to all the vendors, industry professionals from Finance, Urban Planning, Law, Public Policy, Engineering, Medicine and Health, Education, Media and PR for contributing to an amazing evening!

We are still reminiscing about visit to Toronto to launch SOOMAALIYA. We had the chance to ask everyone what their favourite Somali comfort was… and our take away is that we all need dhaqan celis 🤣

The SCCR had the honour of hosting Ifrah F. Ahmed for the launch of her cookbook, SOOMAALIYA, a labour of love, honouring Somali culture and cuisine.

Her cookbook is a testament to the beauty of our dhaqan and what it means to be archiving and persevering what is traditionally an ancient and rich heritage of Somali oral storytelling.

Thank you to all those who helped, to Aziz Faarah for his amazing moderation, and to Say Somaali for their support on this event, and for helping us welcome Ifrah warmly to Toronto!
