FILMS FROM THE FUNNEL
Monday, November 25, 7pm, free.
Rm 307, School of Image Arts, 122 Bond St., Toronto.

These are super 8 and 16mm films by members of The Funnel Experimental Film Theatre, an artists' collective in Toronto, 1977-1987.

Included are still-active local artists Midi Onodera, David Anderson, Martha Davis, Judith Doyle, Eldon Garnet, Annette Mangaard, Blaine Speigel, and John Porter, so some will attend.

It's organized and presented by professor Stephen Broomer's graduate class in the Film and Photography Preservation and Collections Management (F+PPCM) program at Toronto Metropolitan University. The poster was designed by class member Camryn Schatkowsky, inspired by a 1980s Funnel poster by David Anderson.

Some sad news here. Ross McLaren has passed away. Mr. McLaren was an experimental filmmaker, a founding member of the Funnel, and its earliest director. He was also a professor at Fordham University in New York City.

Sincere condolences to all of Ross McLaren's friends and family. We're sure he'll be missed, but we're also sure that his filmmaking and educational legacies will live on.

The OCAD University community is deeply saddened by the loss of filmmaker and educator Ross McLaren, who passed away on November 28 at the age of 69 in Brooklyn, New York. McLaren graduated from the Ontario College of Art (OCA) in 1976, where he also taught, before it became OCAD U.
