Ontario’s election day is tomorrow, Thursday February 27th

Ontario’s last provincial election had the lowest voter turnout in the province’s history.

It’s time to show up and make sure our leaders protect clean air, water and a thriving natural environment. It’s time to vote to bring affordable housing, clean energy, better transit and healthy, connected communities to Ontario.

Posted • Community is the antidote to a polarized world, and our time together restores and prepares us for our work for the movements of our time.

On Thursday Nov 28 at 7 pm, we’re hosting an online community building hour to celebrate and gather for Buy Nothing Day, a day created to contrast and disrupt Black Friday.

Break out whatever art supplies you have - even better if they’re up-cycled, re-cycled or found, and join in community for an hour of mindfulness, connection, and creative exploration 💕 all are welcome!

Join with others who also care about the role of consumerism, which diminishes personal wellness as well as harms our beloved planet. 🌍❤️ Buy nothing, build community, and remember how much we have when we have one another 💕🫂

It's been just over two weeks since Metrolinx and the FordNation government started removing 1200 trees from over 1.5 km in the Eglinton Flats and we're already getting reports of unusual wildlife activity. Predictably, it's the larger mammals we're noticing first.

Residents along Scarlett Rd. shared this video of a young deer across the street from the Esso Gas Station at 280 Scarlett Rd. Community members from the Rockliffe-Smthe and Roselands communities are reporting an increase in deer sightings - and more interactions near roads and homes. Please be extra vigilant while driving along Scarlett Rd., Jane St. and Eglinton Ave.

This is what happens when you fence in or remove urban forests and habitats - wildlife are pushed out. By removing 1200 trees is disconnecting a safe contiguous wildlife corridor that connects Eglinton Flats parklands and the Humber River Valley.

We're not done advocating for our community, our land, our trees, and wildlife in our parks - stay tuned for updates in the coming days.
