In 2025, Amal Magdy joined the Board of Directors at Global Humanitarian Aid (GHA) Canada, bringing with her a distinguished record in heritage conservation, cultural sustainability, and international development. Her work bridges the humanitarian and cultural sectors, advocating for inclusive development that respects local identities and promotes global solidarity.
Amal currently serves as the President and CEO of the Canada Heritage Action Foundation (CHAF), where she leads initiatives that advance heritage protection, environmental resilience, and social equity in communities affected by conflict, displacement, and climate change.
With over a decade of experience across the Middle East, North Africa, and North America, Amal has led and collaborated on a wide range of projects addressing cultural preservation, post-conflict reconstruction, and community-based development. She has worked with international NGOs, heritage institutions, and grassroots initiatives to design and implement programs that empower marginalized communities, safeguard heritage in crisis zones, and promote inclusive education through arts and culture.
Amal holds a Ph.D. in Archaeology & Greco-Roman Studies from Alexandria University, alongside a Diploma in Development Leadership from the Coady International Institute, St. Francis Xavier University, Canada. Her research intersects sustainable development, Indigenous and local knowledge systems, and the governance of cultural heritage sites in vulnerable regions.
A passionate advocate for cultural rights and humanitarian cooperation, Amal has represented civil society at United Nations forums and international conferences, contributing to global policy on heritage, and climate action. She is the recipient of numerous research fellowships and international awards recognizing her commitment to world heritage and humanitarian development.
