Here's your chance to connect with other teachers about talking climate in the classroom.

Do you struggle to talk about climate change in class? You’re not alone! Many educators don’t feel confident bringing it up.

We spoke with some teachers about this, and one of the reasons they shared is that climate change is just such a heavy subject to discuss. How do you acknowledge the reality of the situation without leaving students stuck in complete despair?

And not only that, but how do you manage your own responses to climate change so that you can be fully present and supportive for your students when big feelings do come up?

We’re spotlighting Caitey this week, a TCTM Team Lead who loved the role so much she did it more than once:

“My first TCTM showed me that no matter how different we are, climate change affects us all, and it’s so important to talk about it! I returned as a Team Lead to continue the climate conversation, and to hold space for others to share their perspectives. This year, I’m reaching out to students and faculty at my school, hanging posters, and having one-on-one chats with friends about the TCTM program.“

This month’s community call will be an open session for discussion of climate feelings, thoughts, ideas or projects that you might want support with. There will be a light agenda and some questions to get you thinking if desired, but the floor will mostly just be open for you to share in community.

At our next community call, our Director, Amy Castator, will facilitate an activity to help you discover (or re-discover) your ‘climate why.’ This reflective process will help you connect with what matters most to you, guiding you to take meaningful actions that align with your values and bring more joy to your efforts.
