The Jean Augustine Center for Young Women's Empowerment (JAC) was launched in 2014 to empower girls and young women. Under the leadership of Patron-Founder Jean Augustine, the Centre offers a range of empowerment programs free-of-charge to young girls ages 7-17 years old. Our service focuses on:

- nutrit
ion;
- mindfulness;
- life skills
- real-world job training. Hailed as a trailblazer, Jean Augustine is a single mother who became the first ever African-Canadian woman elected to Canada's Parliament in 1993. She served with distinction and was responsible for laws making Black History Month official; and the Famous Five statues -- the first-ever of Canadian women erected on Parliament Hill. A life-long volunteer, she received the Order of Canada for her work and continued dedication to improving outcomes for youth, single mothers and newcomers. With continued support and kind donations from community individuals and others, the JAC will continue striving to help develop healthy, empowered and educated young ladies. This is a win for community, for Canada and for the world.
