As we head into the holiday season, we want to take a moment to thank everyone who has contributed to this year’s progress in strengthening Canada’s workforce.

Looking back on 2025, we are in awe of the momentum built across the country to support economic growth and create new opportunities for workers.

None of this happens in isolation, and we are grateful to our delivery partners, employers, funders, and collaborators for their continued trust and commitment.

The Palette Skills team wishes you a restful holiday season and a strong start to the new year.

English / Français – Palette Skills is pleased to receive a C$500,000 donation from RBC, announced today in Vancouver, BC.

“Canada’s economy is shifting and this funding will launch a workforce training program which will support strategic, ethical, and practical integration of AI,” said Mark Beckles, our CEO.

One of the keys to equipping Canada’s workforce for the AI economy is to upskill business leaders, employees, and job seekers in weeks, not months.

This generous donation will allow Palette Skills to offer rapid upskilling programs that will support small- and medium-sized enterprises across Canada in the responsible adoption of AI technologies. https://bit.ly/4gbDBM3

A sincere thank you to RBC’s team including — Gayle Corcoran, Kam K. Raman MBA, ICD.D, and Carmen Stossel. Thank you to Palette Skills Board Members Gail Stephens and Sheridan Scott for their support.

“More than ever, our nation needs to be able to capitalize on the potential of its workforce.” – Mark Beckles, CEO, and Janet Yale, Chair of the Board of Directors.

Canada's economy is changing rapidly, and businesses cannot keep pace, unless they have workers who possess the right skills.

This is why we have built a national network that connects employers and training providers, delivering short-cycle upskilling that helps Canadian businesses access the skilled talent they need to grow by keeping workers across the country at the forefront of industry needs.

No ambitious effort succeeds alone, we are grateful to our funders and sponsors (Canadian Innovation, TD, University of Toronto), our staff, delivery partners, employer partners, and all the individuals and organizations whose support make this work possible.

See how we are on track to upskill over 18,000 workers across Canada and build a skilled and competitive workforce in our 2024-25 Annual Report. https://bit.ly/3ULQsKP

As part of our Digital Agriculture Fundamentals program, participants took part in an immersive Drone Technology in Agriculture Workshop, one of several industry-led sessions designed to build applied skills for the evolving agri-food sector.

They:
🔹 Piloted drones used across the ag value chain
🔹 Explored mapping workflows and crop monitoring techniques
🔹 Learned about RPAS certification, Canadian airspace regulations, and real-world applications of UAVs in agriculture

This kind of applied learning helps participants translate theory into practice, so they’re ready to contribute from day one.

This workshop was possible thanks to facilitators Markus Weber, Robin Harrison, and Jan Zalud.

We’re proud to support Ontario Tech University’s new Nuclear Career Accelerator through Upskill Canada – “With training based on industry input, this program will supply the highly-skilled workers the industry needs,” says Mark Beckles, our CEO.

Our Upskill Canada initiative helps workers across the country access the training they need to meet the talent demands of Canada’s high-growth sectors, it is funded by Canadian Innovation (ISED).

🇨🇦 Canada’s economic growth depends on our ability to unlock the full potential of our workforce.

As innovation reshapes industries, from advanced manufacturing to digital tech, the talent pipeline hasn’t kept pace. The result? Critical productivity gaps for businesses, and missed opportunities for talent across sectors.

At Palette Skills, we’re reframing the skills gap:
It’s not a shortage of people. It’s a shortage of pathways.

That’s why we’re building agile, industry-informed upskilling programs across the country, designed to help workers in Canada transition into high-growth careers and keep Canadian businesses globally competitive.

We believe workforce development is economic development. And upskilling must be part of a coordinated, national approach.
