Youth players do not need to have any previous musical or taiko experience to participate. All material is taught through example and repetition. Ability to read music is not a requirement.
Youth participants will have the opportunity to learn a simple taiko piece through (3) one-hour sessions at the Nagata Shachu studio (Hymus Road @ Warden) on Sunday, June 1, 8 and 15 at 1 pm.
Through the support of the Toronto Arts Council, we are offering participants:
● $100 Honorarium (upon completion of 3 rehearsals and performances)
● Nagata Shachu T-Shirt
● TTC / Transportation costs provided for rehearsals and performances
Youth participants will perform a 5 minute piece at each of the 4 park locations,
opening each Arts in The Park performance following the workshop session.
