Eid Mubarak! URGENT ACTION for Palestine in Ontario:
In response to the increasing pressure for public education to participate in Nakba denial, there has been clear, decisive intent and action to push for the removal of this day from calendars of school boards who have been responsive to the communities they serve.
We need AS MANY LETTERS OF SUPPORT AS POSSIBLE, particularly from our Jewish comrades and allies in orgs and institutions to denounce this action. Let’s remind Ontario education’s ministers that acknowledgement of Nakba Day is NOT a form of harassment, intimidation, discrimination nor infringement on Jewish self-determination and that this ahistorical act does not speak on behalf of Jewish people. The removal and blocking of Nakba Day would have devastating impacts on children, youth, families and beyond.
Let’s remind them that human rights codes, goals and commitments are meant to support, benefit and include ALL students. The removal of Nakba Remembrance would be another step in the denial of the existence, the history, and the human rights of Ontario students and families.
SHARE, FORWARD, SPREAD WIDELY. WE NEED TO PROTECT AND KEEP NAKBA REMEMBRANCE IN SCHOOLS.
