On the 20th anniversary of the death of Corporal Matthew Dinning, his memory was honoured through the donation of the 250th defibrillator by the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 180 in Wingham.

AED Foundation Ontario commends this powerful act of remembrance and community.

On April 22, 2006, 23-year-old Matthew Dinning was killed in Afghanistan. He was protecting Brig. Gen. David Fraser, when his military vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device.

Congratulations to Councillor Larissa Vogler and Municipality of Lakeshore Council on unanimously supporting AED reimbursement. Strong leadership saves lives. We hope more Ontario municipalities follow with similar lifesaving initiatives.

Lakeshore council was quick to support a motion to reimburse local businesses that provide publicly accessible defibrillators.

This week, we’re recognizing 911 dispatchers for the incredible work they do every day.

In an emergency, they are a calm and steady voice on the other end of the line, helping guide bystanders, support emergency response, and save lives.

As AED Foundation Ontario works to build a province-wide AED registry integrated into 911, we are especially proud to recognize the vital role dispatchers play in helping connect callers to the nearest AED during a cardiac emergency.

Thank you for all that you do ❤️⚡

Happy National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

A remarkable story from Parliament Hill. After a Conservative staffer collapsed from cardiac arrest, a Liberal staffer and Parliamentary Protective Service officers helped save his life. It is a powerful reminder that in an emergency, what matters most is awareness, fast action, and being prepared to respond. AED awareness saves lives.

From tragedy came action. Erin da Luz helped bring 3 outdoor AEDs to Stouffville’s Memorial Park in honour of her father, helping protect others in moments that matter most. This is why AED awareness, access, and registration are so important. Read the York Region (The Regional Municipality of York) story and help strengthen Ontario’s chain of survival by registering your AEDs with us today.

Erin da Luz performed CPR on her father, Ricardo, at their home in 2024 when he died from cardiac arrest. She wanted to do something that would help prevent this from happening in the community.

Inspired by this story from Western University.

A huge shoutout to Danijela Jelich for raising funds for Western’s first outdoor AED and for helping advance AED awareness on campus. Her leadership is a powerful reminder that when more AEDs are visible, accessible, and registered, more lives can be saved.

We encourage organizations, workplaces, schools, community spaces, and property owners across Ontario to help strengthen the chain of survival by making sure their AEDs can be found quickly in an emergency.

After her father's death, biology major Danijela Jelich raises cardiac arrest awareness and funds Western's first outdoor debrillator.

We were pleased to welcome the Honourable Michael Tibollo, Associate Attorney General, to the AED Foundation Ontario office.

It was a meaningful opportunity to share more about our mission to improve AED accessibility and awareness across Ontario and to discuss the AED registry we are building for the province.

Every second counts in a cardiac emergency. By improving public awareness and strengthening access to life-saving AED information, we can help more people get the care they need faster.

Thank you, Michael Tibollo, for taking the time to learn more about this important work and the impact it can have on communities across our province.

Today, our Co-Founder Roberta Scott delivered a deputation to York Region (The Regional Municipality of York) Council highlighting why AED awareness and accessibility matter, and why an AED registry integrated into 911 is so critical when seconds count.

A sincere thank you to Richmond Hill Councillor Joe DiPaola for his motion in support of AED accessibility, and to Chief Chris Spearen and York Region Paramedic Services PAD coordinators for their leadership and ongoing commitment to the chain of survival.

This is what collaboration looks like: paramedics, elected leaders, and community champions working together so an AED is easier to find, faster to access, and more likely to save a life.

If you oversee a facility or organization, register your AED with us and help make it visible when seconds matter.

If only it were always that simple.

The difference between life and death can be whether someone knows where an AED is.

Registering an AED makes it easier to find when seconds matter. If your workplace, condo, gym, school, or community space has one, add it to Ontario’s AED Registry today.
