Our latest newsletter is out.

Inside, we share how our repair and retrofit work is building community wealth through collective power- making community-owned homes more comfortable, energy-efficient, and climate-resilient.

We’ve completed 15 deep retrofits, have 33 units underway, and are on track to reach 81 homes by 2026. This work reduces energy costs, improves comfort, and protects affordability for the long term.

We also prioritize working with BIPOC-led and community-rooted businesses. Through our partnership with Building UP, this has supported over 10,800 hours of paid skilled-trades training for 109 people, including neighbours from Parkdale.

Right now, your impact goes twice as far. A Parkdale neighbour has generously offered to match all new donations up to $100,000, meaning every dollar you give doubles the support for community-owned housing.

Read our newest newsletter and donate to support energy-efficient, resilient homes.

On December 1, 2025, the Neighbourhood Land Trust acquired a 33-unit apartment building in Parkdale that is now community-owned and permanently protected from speculation. This acquisition ensures that these homes will remain affordable for our community for generations to come.

As we look ahead to 2026, we need your support to preserve and protect more rental homes and to continue to build community power. Your donation fuels this work—and right now, every gift is doubled through our $100,000 match. Donate now here: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/the-neighbourhood-land-trust/

We are deeply grateful for your support of The Neighbourhood Land Trust’s essential work.

The Toronto Star just spotlighted the Parkdale Neighbourhood Land Trust for developing Parkdale People’s Place—a huge milestone in community-led housing, gathering, and land stewardship.

Parkdale People’s Place is a 16-storey building with 175 rental units at the Parkdale Hub, with 88 affordable units, 9 rental replacement units for artists, and 78 market rent-controlled units. It will have 23,000 square feet of community space!

After years of organizing, advocating, and building power alongside our neighbours, PNLT is leading this project to ensure homes in Parkdale stay deeply affordable, community-owned, and protected from speculation—now and for generations to come.

The Neighbourhood Land Trust is working hard to implement community-led housing solutions. This year alone, the Land Trust:
- Preserved an apartment building in South Parkdale with 33 affordable rental units at risk of being lost to speculation
- Completed dozens of home repairs and renovations to our Scatter Home Portfolio to improve quality, safety, and sustainability
- And—most exciting—the Land Trust was selected by the City of Toronto to develop Parkdale People’s Place, a 16-storey building with 175 rental homes and 23,000 sq. ft. of community space

The land trust has a goal to raise $200,000 to support our work in 2026. Amazingly, a generous Parkdale neighbour has committed to match up to $100,000 in new donations. That means every dollar you give today goes twice as far.

If you’re able, I invite you to join me in supporting the Land Trust’s mission to preserve and expand community-owned affordable housing.

Thank you for considering this—and for supporting a more just and equitable city.
