A Cabinet of Curiosities 3 - MEET THE ARTISTS!
- Lifia Teguh, piano

Pianist-composer Lifia Teguh is a multidisciplinary artist working at the forefront of classical-contemporary music. Recognized as a Banff Musician in Residence and a frequent guest on All Classical Portland Radio, USA, Teguh has built a reputation for bridging the gap between traditional concert halls & digital media. Her practice weaves Indonesian heritage, Western classical rigor, and the spontaneity of jazz and pop.

Teguh’s artistry is marked by a combination of technical command, emotional depth, and creativity exemplified by her performance of Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major with the Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra. As a composer, her work is equally compelling; her piano quartet, Liber Dangdut, received its premiere at the College Music Society National Conference in New York, while her commissions for Fear No Music’s Locally Sourced Sounds series have earned consistent critical praise.

Her creative versatility is supported by a sound academic foundation, including Master’s degrees in Piano Performance and Collaborative Piano from Portland State University—where she was a Concerto Competition winner—and a Master of Music in Music Technology and Digital Media from the University of Toronto. Be it in the concert hall or the studio, Teguh continues to craft immersive, genre-defying experiences that resonate across disciplines.

A Cabinet of Curiosities 3 - MEET THE ARTISTS!

- mezzopiano (Máiri Demings and Zain Solinski)

mezzopiano is a classical music duo comprising one mezzo soprano (Máiri Demings) and one pianist (Zain Solinski). This project expresses the duo’s desire to escape the confines of the classical canon for the wild and weird world of music written for mezzo and piano. The goal of their exploration is to expose audiences to new and lesser- known works, in tandem with performing well-known repertoire in new and novel ways. Despite their name they enjoy performing at a wide range of dynamics: soft, loud, and everything between and beyond. In 2023, mezzopiano collaborated with filmmaker Emily Ellis on Histoires Naturelles: An Animated Adaptation. The film was finalist in the Noteworthy Projects category at the 2024 OPERA America Digital Excellence in Opera Awards and was an official selection at the 2024 Albuquerque Film + Music Experience.
