Laylatul Jaizah

It had been the practice of the Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, that he would not sleep in the night preceding the day of Eid-ul-fitr. This night has been named in a Hadith as the Night of Reward (Laylatul Jaiza).

Allah (SWT) bestows his rewards on those who have spent the month of Ramadan abiding by the dictates of Shari’ah, and all their prayers in this night are accepted. Therefore, it is desirable to perform nafl prayers in this night.

The Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, is reported to have said:

Whoever stands up (in worship) in the nights preceding the two Eids expecting rewards from his Lord, his heart will not die when the other hearts will die. (Ibn Majah).

What are some things we can do on this night?
1. Recite the Quran and reflect.
2. Ask forgiveness for past and present sins.
3. Perform nafl prayers like tahajjud salah and salatul tasbih.
4. Perform dhikrullah (rememberance of Allah).
5. Make heartfelt dua.

May He accept all our fasts and ibadah, Ameen.

As Ramadan draws to a close, we enter its most powerful and sacred nights, the final ten. These are nights of mercy, forgiveness, and liberation from the Hellfire. Among them is Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Decree, a night better than a thousand months.

Though its exact date is unknown, we seek it in the last ten nights by increasing our worship, du‘a, and charity. A single act of giving on this blessed night could carry the reward of over 83 years.

Even the smallest act of sadaqah can become immense when given during these nights. Consider setting aside a small amount each night so that, by the mercy of Allah, your charity falls on Laylat al-Qadr.

Give with sincerity, seek forgiveness, and ask Allah for emancipation from the Hellfire in these final nights.

May Allah accept from us all.

The final ten nights of Ramadan have arrived, the most sacred nights of the entire month. 🌙

These are the nights to turn back to Allah with sincere hearts, increase in prayer, charity, and remembrance, and seek His mercy and forgiveness.

Among these nights lies Laylatul Qadr, a night better than a thousand months.

May Allah accept our worship, forgive our shortcomings, and grant us emancipation from the Fire of Jahannam.
