Due to some last-minute changes, we are currently reworking our Carry the Fire Youth & Elders Gathering taking place July 14–16, 2026, in Timmins, Ontario.

At this time, Walking Forward Together is actively looking for:

-A space in Timmins to host the gathering
- Sponsors and/or in-kind donations
- Community partners willing to support youth and Elders coming together in a safe and welcoming environment

This gathering will be open to all youth and Elders across NAN Territory and may include drop-in activities, cultural teachings, workshops, meals, wellness spaces, and opportunities for community connection.

We believe bringing youth and Elders together is an important step in strengthening community, sharing knowledge, and creating space for healing and connection.

If your organization, business, or community group is interested in supporting this gathering through sponsorship, donations, supplies, food, activities, or venue space, we would love to connect with you.

Red Dress Day is May 5.

We honour and remember Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who came out to Quilts for Survivors today. Your presence, your voices, and your care mean so much.

The Red Dress Day / MMIWG2S Committee was created in response to the lack of coordinated action from organizations, systems, and the city. Our people deserve more.

Our missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit community members, family members, friends, and loved ones deserve to be honoured, protected, and never forgotten.

This committee is about community voices, accountability, remembrance, advocacy, and action.

We gather because they deserve to be honoured.
We organize because they deserve justice.
We continue because they deserve more.

If you want to be part of this work, reach out and join us.

Thank you to everyone who came out today 🤍

Even though our group was a bit small, it was still such a meaningful time together. We shared songs on the drum, had some really good conversations, told stories, and held space for one another. We also kept our friends in our thoughts who are currently at the United Nations, lifting them up and feeling proud of the work they’re doing.

We spent some time talking about what’s next too, including future rallies, events, and ways to keep building together.

Small gatherings can still be powerful, and today was a reminder of that. Miigwetch for showing up, for sharing, and for being part of this work 🤍

📍 Bill 5 Rally Today at Hollinger Park, Timmins at 3PM

Come stand with us as we continue to raise our voices against Bill 5. Bring your signs, your drums, your energy. This is a space to be heard.

We are also holding space for our friends Here We Stand & Okiniwak who are at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. Indigenous youth from Treaty 9 are bringing this fight to the global stage and we want to show up in support of them here at home.

🪶 Make signs for the fight against Bill 5
🪶 Make signs uplifting our youth and the work they are doing

Let’s show up in a way that reflects the strength they are carrying.

See you there.

“We’re still standing up for rights, our voices and our future.”

I’m honoured to be featured in Timmins Today speaking on the rally opposing Bill 5 and what this moment means for our communities.

This isn’t just about one day or one event. It is about protecting our lands, asserting our rights, and making sure youth voices are heard loud and clear.

We’re not asking for rights. We’re enforcing them.
