The last little job completed for the season, removing snow fence in the Schumacher Lions Club park.

Thanks to the crew from TSC and the Schumacher Lions Club who came out to help and store the fencing until next season 👌.

It was a long winter and we are a little bit tired but still smiling! Timmins Snowmobile Club executive had their end of year meeting to wrap up the season, ensure the final documents are completed and put together a bit of a plan for the various task that need to be completed during the offseason.

Please keep your eyes on our page as we have to remove a snow fence once the ground thaws and bridge re-decking project that will need a group of volunteers once the weather warms up.

Thank You to the Best Western Premier Northwood Hotel for allowing us to use their conference rooms for our TSC monthly meetings. Check them out on 245-A Airport Road. Brand new hotel, pool, restaurant and awesome conference rooms.

It’s that time of the year again that every snowmobiler hates, when the trails close for the season. It has truly been a season to remember. The trails were open for 17 weeks this season, starting in December and extending into April.

When the snow started to fall, it didn’t stop. On several occasions this season too much snow was received at once making grooming very difficult. Our groomers needed to re-pack trails; snowplows were getting stuck and the City of Timmins pretty much shut down for several days after receiving the record-breaking snowfall.

Our grooming crew really stepped up this season. They put in hundreds of hours (most during the night) to ensure our trails set-up perfect for riders to enjoy the following day. They also stepped up to support our neighboring clubs and helped them deal with the excessive amount of snow and breakdowns. With support from our volunteer crew of mechanics, they were able to keep everything running smoothly the entire season. Although we were down a groomer for almost a month waiting for parts, they kept the other two in good working order to ensure they could take on the extra hours of grooming.

Our volunteer support this season was unreal! Every time we put up a request, had a project to complete or trail work that needed to be done, a group of volunteers were there. We had great turnouts, lots of fun getting the work done and Noel’s trail side barbecues became famous. Thank you to everyone that came out and supported us on the trails this season!

We cannot thank our sponsors enough! The support we receive from our local businesses is awesome. From donations of parts, services, equipment or in-kind contributions, they are always there to support our team. We will continue to make posts through the summer months to ensure they get the recognition they deserve. Please ensure to support these businesses during the offseason.

With over 600 parcels of land that our trail system crosses, our landowners play a very important role ensuring the success of our trails. From large mining companies to private individuals, they all give permission to use their land for snowmobiling. We cannot thank you enough and without them, there would be no trails.

Behind the scenes, on the trails and even in groomers our executive team really stepped up this season. Many obstacles were overcome early in the season and many problems were resolved during the season to ensure once the trails opened, they stayed open. Although the season does wind down, the work does not. Planning is already started to ensure we can get several projects completed during the summer months.

Finally, thank you to everyone who purchased a trail permit. This supports our club, buys groomers, fuel, parts and ensures the success of snowmobiling. Thank you for coming up to our District, supporting our community and riding our trails this season. Please enjoy the summer, stay safe and we cannot wait to see everyone back on the trails next season!

We are going to be shutting down out trails for the season at noon today. We have received the rain and warm weather that was predicted. Low lying areas are already showing signs of water accumulations. We will provide a year in review post later this evening to wrap up the season.

Refer to the ITG for trails status updates.

Trails are still holding up decently but looking at the forecast we will most likely be closing the trails down on Monday, April 13th.

Long range forecast has rain most days, temperatures are starting to be above zero in the evening and we are no longer able to groom in these conditions.

We will continue to monitor over the weekend. Some trails may change to yellow or possibly need to be closed due to swamp or river crossings.

Please ensure to check the ITG before heading out on the trails.

Currently our trails are in excellent shape and we plan to keep them open as long as possible. Please understand that conditions can change quickly at this point in the season. If you are planning trips to the area, please ensure you check the weather, the ITG and our social media page.

There is still lots of snow and the base is solid, but as the weather gets warmer during the day and we start to see more rainfall, the sections of trail that are in swamps or have snow bridges become the issue. This could result in large sections of trail being closed for only a small area.

We will provide updates as we receive them from our groomer operators and patrollers on the trail.
