The Tillsonburg Kinsmen Club has once again demonstrated what community spirit and hands-on dedication can achieve completing a major improvement at the local soccer club’s equipment storage facility in just six days.
Working entirely outside of their regular jobs, Kinsmen members coordinated with local businesses to source all necessary materials before taking on the project themselves, from start to finish. The team handled excavation, gravel tamping, forming, concrete pouring, and final finishing without the use of hired contractors.
Key contributions came from within the membership as well as Dutch Brothers supplied the concrete, Joey Sulkowski provided and installed the rebar reinforcement, while Rob Bilger supplied and placed the required gravel base.
What makes the accomplishment even more impressive is the timeline. The entire project was completed in under a week, with all labour carried out during evenings and off-hours, a testament to the commitment and work ethic of the club’s members.
The Kinsmen Club has long been a pillar of support for the local soccer community. Their history includes a substantial $120,000 donation toward the construction of the soccer clubhouse approximately 25 years ago. More recently, the club built covered players’ benches on the elite field, further enhancing the experience for the athletes.
This latest project reflects the club’s ongoing mission: not just to donate, but to roll up their sleeves and make a tangible difference. Comprised of skilled individuals from a wide range of professional backgrounds, the Kinsmen are known for their ability to come together, organize efficiently, and execute complex projects with precision.
As the soccer season approaches, the new concrete pad stands as yet another example of what can be achieved when community-minded volunteers step forward.
