In many parts of Southwestern Ontario, getting around isn’t easy — especially for those without access to public transit. That’s why Southwest Community Transit (SCT) was created: to connect rural communities, increase accessibility, and make sure everyone can reach work, school, and essential services.
Learn how SCT is helping residents stay connected and supported across the region.

🌆 80% of Canadians now live in urban centres with populations between 30,000 and 300,000 — and that’s no coincidence.

Mid-sized cities are becoming the new sweet spot for individuals and businesses alike. These communities offer the best of both worlds: robust infrastructure and services without the challenges of major urban sprawl.

In regions like South Central Ontario, growing urban centres are attracting talent, supporting entrepreneurs, and fostering innovation — all while maintaining a high quality of life.

At SCOR EDC, we champion the development of these mid-sized communities by supporting economic diversification, investment readiness, and sustainable regional growth.

Because building strong, vibrant cities starts with supporting the places where most Canadians already call home.

Intimidated by public transit?

We got you!

If you’ve never used public transit, it can seem a little intimidating but we are here to ensure you that it’s easy and enjoyable.

Let’s ride public transit in 5 easy steps 👉🏼

1️⃣ Securing your seat — Book or plan your ride ahead of time

2️⃣ Arriving at the bus stop — Aim to be early!

3️⃣ Boarding the bus — Double check the route name posted on the side of the bus. Let the operator know which stop you will be getting off at, and be sure to let them know if you need any assistance.

4️⃣ Paying your fare — Pay ahead of time or come prepared with accepted payments.

5️⃣ Exiting the bus — The operator will announce each stop, be sure to have all of your items collected in advance and let the operator know if you need any assistance.

TIP: Bring a buddy for your first trip to help you out!

Hey there 👋🏼

Let us reintroduce ourselves!

SCOR EDC is a regional partnership comprised of —
👉🏼 County of Brant
👉🏼 Elgin County
👉🏼 Middlesex County
👉🏼 Norfolk County
👉🏼 Oxford County

In 2010, a strategic plan was created in response to the decline of the to***co industry and the losses in manufacturing and related jobs between 2006 and 2009. The Councils and Mayors of the 5 counties agreed to jointly focus on the transition in the local economies to take advantage of new opportunities. With the extensive support of volunteers and stakeholders from across the region, SCOR EDC implemented its long-range strategic management plan.

Had the pleasure of attending the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade (MEDJCT) roundtable discussion on Trade Impacted Communities, hosted by Niagara Region. Pictured here with Zach Gable, Chair of the SCOR EDC Resource Advisory Committee. Great discussion led by Minister Vic Fedeli on strengthening support for Ontario’s trade-exposed communities.
