Tilbury U9 Team Shows Strong Effort in Friendly Against Belle River

The Tilbury U9 team hosted the Belle River Boys 2017 squad last night in a friendly match that was fast-paced and competitive from the opening whistle.

Both teams battled hard throughout the first half, with strong defensive play keeping the game scoreless as they headed into halftime tied 0-0.

Tilbury broke the deadlock in the second half when **Ashe Oliver** scored the first goal of the game, giving the home side a 1-0 lead. Belle River responded well, however, scoring three unanswered goals to secure a 3-1 victory.

Despite the result, Tilbury's coaches were very pleased with their team's performance against an all-boys squad that’s been together since the fall. Considering the team has only recently come together and has yet to hold a full-team practice, the effort, teamwork, and competitiveness displayed throughout the match were encouraging signs for the season ahead.

The team now turns its attention to its season opener on **June 18** against **Stoney Point**, where they will look to build on a strong showing from this friendly match.
