Wind Energy Institute of Canada

Wind Energy Institute of Canada The Wind Energy Institute of Canada advances the development of wind energy across Canada through research, testing, innovation and collaboration.

Since 1981, WEICan has been at the forefront of Canada's wind research. WEICan, which until 2006 was known as the Atlantic Wind Test Site (AWTS), is situated in North Cape, Prince Edward Island (PEI), an area with an outstanding wind resource. As we move forward, we continue to work in close collaboration with our many partners, including universities, colleges and other research institutions, private sector companies, governments and utilities.

On Friday we had an Open House at WEICan followed by dinner with music at Stompin' Tom's to celebrate Carl Doucette's retirement after 26 years as a Wind Turbine Technician.

Carl has seen it all during his 26 years with us. From the early days of small wind turbine testing to the complex maintenance of the large-scale turbines in our Wind R&D Park, Carl’s hands-on expertise has been essential to our success.

It’s hard to imagine the site without Carl’s steady presence, but after 26 years of keeping the blades turning, he’s earned some time to catch his breath!

Please join us in thanking Carl for his incredible contributions and wishing him a long, happy, and relaxing retirement.
