A circular economy creates social, economic and environmental benefits by keeping resources in use for as long as possible. It can:

🌱Create jobs and develop skills through opportunities in repair, recycling, reuse and refurbishment.
🌱Make everyday life more affordable by extending product lifespans, encouraging sharing and rentals, reducing food waste, and avoiding unnecessary purchases.
🌱Build healthier, stronger local economies by reducing waste and greenhouse gas emissions while supporting local production and businesses.
🌱Strengthen communities through initiatives such as repair cafés, swap events, food donation programs and refill stations that encourage collaboration and connection.

By making better use of what we already have, a circular economy helps create a future that’s more sustainable, affordable and connected for everyone!

We are happy to feature River's Rain Garden, completed through the 2026 Rain Garden Rebate Program!

River came to us looking for a solution to a large wet area on their lawn. In the spring they noticed water pooling and not draining properly, so the Rain Garden Rebate Program was a great fit.

River and an amazing group of friends built this garden together, and the result is a beautiful rain garden made by many hands. River has decorated it with cute trinkets and a rock signed by everyone who helped build it.

They said "A community of friends came together to help finish this rain garden. Lesson learned? Don’t be afraid to ask for help. You never know what friendships, connections, and sense of community might grow from it. And have fun with it! Let it spark curiosity, whimsy, and play.

This rain garden has brought me so much joy. It’s helped me build a deeper relationship with the land and connect with my community in ways I never expected."

Thanks, River, for sharing the process and your beautiful Rain Garden with us. We can't wait to watch this garden grow over the years!
