It's Second Hand September!

Oxfam launched Second Hand September in 2019 to inspire people to shop in a way that is more sustainable.

In a world of fast fashion, second-hand shopping is good for both people and the planet!🌎

Last Thursday, EcoSuperior partnered with local artist Eden Wilkins to offer the first of two workshops blending art and the environment. 🌱

Participants got to experience the cyanotype process unfold using plants that we foraged and sunlight.

We learned the fundamentals of cyanotype printmaking using flowers, leaves, and other organic materials to create unique prints on paper and fabric.

It was such a beautiful evening, and it was wonderful to see the community enjoying Central Natural Environment Gardens in this way. A huge thank you to Eden for sharing your knowledge and leading such an incredible workshop!

Our Eco Art in the Park workshops are made possible with the support of the TD Parks People Grant.

For our team, every week is World Water Week. 💧

Water protection is a big part of what we do at EcoSuperior, and it takes all of us working in different ways to help protect our waterways and Lake Superior.

Dr. Kennedy Bucci, our Litter Free Lakes Coordinator, works on our LittaTrap and Washing Machine Filter projects. Kathleen leads our Rain Garden program and hosts workshops that show how rain gardens can help manage stormwater and conserve water.

Ashley works on our Adopt a Drain initiative, and Suphala leads our waste programming. Keeping waste off the ground means less of it has a chance to enter Lake Superior.

Erin developed our Water Fair and has been instrumental in making it a success, bringing water education into communities across the region. Amy helps ensure people know about all this work by sharing information and promoting our programs.

Stannis is available to discuss the Drainage Rebate Program and to let you know about all of our programs whenever you visit or call.

There’s a lot that goes into protecting water, and it takes a team. We’re proud of the work we do together to help protect Lake Superior and the water we all depend on!

This afternoon, members of the EcoSuperior team headed to Nipigon to host a Water Fair at Nipigon Public Library!

We were happy to have Jamie Saunders, Chair of our Board, join us to help with the Fair, and Glena Clearwater stopped by to cover the event for local news.

The Water Fair is funded by Nishnawbe Aski Nation ᐊᓂᔑᓇᐯ ᐊᔅᑭ ᐅᑭᒪᐎᓐ and was developed and delivered by EcoSuperior. We’re always happy to get out into the community, share information, and connect with people about protecting our water.

Thanks to everyone in Nipigon who came out and spent part of their afternoon with us!

Come join us!
