This week, as a part of our Humans of LU photoblog we have Rahul sharing his story with us!
I'm from Chennai, India. I reached Thunder Bay during the pandemic with transit from 3 countries and had to take a 3rd country's covid negative certificate to reach Canada. It took me 5 days to reach here and i quarantined at Toronto for 3 days and 14days in Thunder Bay
I am most passionate about cars. I am a huge fan of Formula 1 and hence my career choice is also to work in the same field as aerodynamics

I had to defer a term and I had to wait a pretty long time (almost 6 months) to get my visa for Canada and my undergrad certificates took a pretty long time to get through as well.
I did 2 terms online and i reached here in July 2021. The biggest part of it was, since I am pursuing a research based course, I had to convince myself that everything is going to be alright even though it is remote. I am still coping up for the lost time on my research but I am happy that I was able to meet my course requirements on credits

Personally, my ethnicity is from 2 different states in India and though the states are neighbouring to each other, they speak completely different languages and have completely different traditions.
Being part of such a community, multiculturalism means to uphold my traditions and portray it to the world with honour. Respecting people with different colour and traditions, providing them the space they need to hear out their voices and make sure they are not misinterpreted, which is a common issue we face when we interact with different people.

Happy Lunar New Year everyone!it’s the year of the Tiger! There are many ways to celebrate the Lunar New Year! Here are a few! Tell us in the comments how you’re celebrating! In 104 BC, during the Han dynasty, a fixed date on the traditional Chinese calendar was decided upon to mark the start of the year and since then, festivities and celebrations have been held on this
day. It is a time of family reunion and feasting, ancestor worship and traditional customs.

If you have a sweeth tooth Ghanaian toffee is a simple and easy recipe to make. This candy is nostalgic because it is part of almost every Ghanaian’s childhood. There are many memories that are attached to this candy. It varies in texture as some can be crumbly, chewy or hard but the taste is almost always the same. You can make and have this at any time.

This event is a collaboration between AFCASA and MCC. We want to normalize taking time for yourself to relax. We want students to know that coping through stress isn't the same as handling it and we hope that this event can be one of the options chosen to handle stress in the future.
