RFDA Cares: Working Together to Support Our Northern Communities

We’re working with Food Banks Canada to help get 9 pallets of fresh produce, weighing a total of 8,550 kg, to Pikangikum First Nation in support of the Pikangikum Food Security Program.

Access to nutritious food is essential for every community, and we’re proud to work alongside partners who share our commitment to improving food security across Northern Ontario.

A big thank you to Food Banks Canada and everyone involved in making this delivery possible. Together, we’re making a difference, one delivery at a time.

- Pasta Sauce
- Canned Veggies

These everyday pantry staples go a long way when we put together food hampers for our community. Canned fruit offers a sweet and nutritious option, pasta sauce helps turn simple ingredients into a hearty meal, and who doesnt love veggies?

If you’re heading to the grocery store this week, consider picking up an extra item for the RFDA. Every donation, big or small, helps us get food to the people who need it most.

A big thank you to the students from Lakehead University Food Systems and Critical Food Studies classes for spending time with us at RFDA and helping prepare food for Thanksgiving!

From processing turkeys to preparing carrots and squash, every student brought so much energy, kindness, and a willingness to lend a hand. Their hard work helped us get ready for Thanksgiving and support our member agencies as they provide meals to people across our community.

We’re proud to have such caring local partners and are incredibly grateful to every student who showed up and made a difference. Your time, effort, and compassion mean so much to us!

A big shout-out to our community supporters at Mcasphalt Industries Limited for collecting 128 lbs of essential food items to support the RFDA during Thanksgiving week!

RFDA Thunder Bay Regional Food Distribution Association team is incredibly grateful for the generosity our community has shown this Thanksgiving. Every donation helps us provide much-needed food to our member agencies and soup kitchens, which support thousands of individuals across Thunder Bay.

A HUGE THANK YOU for making our Harvest for Hunger Food Drive a big success! Thanks to the participating stores, our incredible volunteers, and every donor who stopped by to drop off food, we collected an amazing 13,228 lbs (over 6,000 kg) of non-perishable food!

Our warehouse shelves look a little better, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who stepped up to support our community and help keep food on the tables of those who need it.

Over the next couple of days, our team and volunteers will be busy sorting and organizing all the donations in the warehouse so the food can be distributed where it's needed most.

During their fall drive, MEDLIFE Lakehead University students collected over 115 kg of food donations for our community! We’re incredibly grateful for their support and generosity. Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us make a difference in the lives of those facing food insecurity. Your kindness and commitment to helping others mean so much to us!

A huge thank you to No Frills (Tetiana & Roman's, Thunder Bay) for their incredibly generous donation of over 570 pounds of essential food items to support our annual Harvest for Hunger food drive! We’re truly grateful to local businesses like No Frills for stepping up and helping us make sure there’s food on the table for people in our community this Thanksgiving.

Want to help? We’re collecting donations today from 4–8 p.m. and again on Saturday at major grocery stores across Thunder Bay.

Every donation makes a difference. If you’re able to help, please consider donating and supporting your neighbours this Thanksgiving.
