Over the past few days, PARO has been on the road connecting with women entrepreneurs across Southwestern Ontario through our Collaboration for Transformation (CIT) sessions.

And the conversations were rich.

We heard directly from women about how they are using AI in their businesses, where it is creating value, the barriers they are encountering, and where access to training, funding, mentorship and technical support is still falling short. We also explored representation in Canada’s AI ecosystem and, importantly, what women entrepreneurs believe needs to change.

Participants emphasized the importance of thoughtful guardrails and responsible approaches to AI adoption, particularly when technologies intersect with vulnerable populations and community-based services. At the same time, the sessions explored how AI could potentially support greater inclusion, accessibility and participation when it is developed and applied with community needs and lived experience in mind.

These conversations weren't simply about gathering information. Participants were asked to help identify concrete actions for governments, funders and organizations — from AI literacy and adoption funding to mentorship, procurement, networking and policy changes.

What we heard will now help shape an impactful report with recommendations aimed at creating more inclusive policies, programs and ecosystems for women entrepreneurs across Canada.

A big thank you to every woman who showed up, shared her experience and added her voice to this important conversation.
