We are all responsible for reporting forest fires, smoke, or unattended fires, by calling the MNRF at 310-FIRE (310-3473). Reporting immediately helps keep communities safe by preventing the spread of forest fires.🌲🔥

✅ Reporting to the TPU Director, the Emergency Coordination Manager will work to improve community safety and security by addressing the following four areas:

1️⃣ Mitigation and Prevention: Involves activities which reduce or eliminate the effects of an emergency or disaster.
2️⃣ Preparedness: Actions taken prior to an emergency or disaster to ensure an effective response. This includes community education, emergency information, training, preparing plans, operation centres and communication systems.
3️⃣ Response: Involves actions taken to respond to an emergency.
4️⃣ Recovery: Includes the activities required to return the community to its pre-emergency state.

The Emergency Coordination Manager will provide high-level project coordination, and the development of culturally safe and sustainable disaster response/recovery resources.

Interested in becoming a Forest Firefighter? From April 22-26 at our Fort Frances campus, earn your Wildland Firefighter Certification. This course is free and open to everyone aged 18 and older. Some participants may be eligible to earn a training allowance (hourly wage) while they train!

Please note that participants must have their Standard First Aid before starting the course. If you require this, SGEI may be able to refer you to a First Aid course.

Not sure about a career in Wildland Firefighting? This course can also help prepare you for positions in response and operations, aviation services, integrated services or business management with the MNR.
