September is Su***de Prevention Month.
Sometimes people need help long before they reach the point of being suicidal, but have difficulty figuring out where they can turn to.
Maybe you’re lonely.
Maybe you’re overwhelmed.
Maybe you’re grieving.
Maybe you’re struggling financially.
Maybe you’ve been dealing with anxiety or depression.
Maybe life just feels like too much right now.
Or maybe you don’t even know what’s wrong — you just know you aren’t doing okay.
You don’t have to wait until you’re in a crisis to ask for help.
And you don’t necessarily need to know exactly what kind of help you need.
Here are some Alberta resources worth saving:

Know of a local resource that isn’t listed here?
Please add it in the comments.
It could be a counselling service, peer-support group, community program, drop-in space, support group, or anything else that could help someone who is struggling.
Let’s use the comments to build a bigger list of resources for our communities.
And if you’re reading this thinking:
“I’m not suicidal. I don’t think I need any of this.”
That’s okay.
You can still save this post.
You never know when you, a friend, a family member, a neighbour or a coworker might need it.
And if you are struggling right now, please don’t convince yourself that you have to handle it alone.
Call someone. Text someone. Walk through a door. Sit with someone. Ask for help.
You don’t have to have the right words.
You just have to take the first step.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
Save this post. Share it with someone. It might reach the right person at the right time.
