As we get ready for tomorrow’s Thornton Firefighters Association Golf Tournament, we wanted to provide an update regarding the current air quality conditions caused by wildfires in Northern Ontario.
At this time, the tournament is still going ahead as planned. We are continuing to closely monitor air quality and weather conditions and will follow any guidance or recommendations from Environment Canada and local public health officials should conditions change.
We encourage all of our golfers, association members, volunteers, and guests to monitor the latest Environment Canada air quality recommendations and make the decision that is best for their own health and comfort.
To help reduce exposure throughout the day, we will be rotating our members and volunteers between indoor and outdoor duties whenever possible. Providing water throughout the day as well.
Current forecasts indicate that air quality is expected to improve tomorrow, but we are taking every reasonable precaution regardless. This is a unique and rapidly changing situation, and we are doing everything we can to help ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone involved.
Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and appreciate your flexibility as we navigate these conditions together.
