Big skies, huge connections. Our After 6 evening last week, co-hosted by the Collingwood Climate Action Team and Spy Distillery, was one of those perfect kind of nights.

BMCC members were treated to delicious food, local sips, and gorgeous views at Spy, while musician Ian Robertson kept our toes tapping. CCAT shared practical sustainability actions that businesses can take to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Spy owners, Ian and Darcy, showed us around their stunning new events space, scheduled to open this summer, and a packed house of local professionals mingled, connected, and won some great prizes. Thanks to everyone for being there.

We have another amazing After 6 planned in July, at another incredible venue. If you'd like to get in on the fun at one of these exclusive networking evenings, visit https://bluemountainschamber.ca to find out about becoming a member of The Blue Mountains Chamber of Commerce.

We're proud to show off another exciting new addition to the BMCC Board, Roberto De Sousa.

Roberto moved to Collingwood in 2023 to become Director of Food & Beverage at The Georgian Peaks Club — a move inspired by a desire to embrace the lifestyle and strong sense of community the region offers. Roberto describes Georgian Peaks as “a unique environment with fast hills, exceptional events, family-driven membership, and a remarkable community spirit.”

Originally from Southeast Brazil, Roberto began his career helping manage his family’s grass-fed beef business while completing a bachelor’s degree in business administration. In 2005, he and his wife moved to London – UK, where he pursued a culinary career, graduating from Le Cordon Bleu and completing a postgraduate degree in Business Administration. His professional journey has since taken him through Dominican Republic, Brazil, Toronto, and now the Blue Mountains area, with leadership roles in luxury hotels, private clubs, and hospitality operations.

Roberto is passionate about contributing to the region’s continued growth and sharing the experience gained throughout his international career. As a member of The Blue Mountains Chamber of Commerce, he values the opportunity to give back to such an amazing and welcoming community.

Looking to get more out of AI to help your business or organization work smarter?

If you're ready to move beyond the basics, this hands-on workshop, led by AI expert Carol Chong, is designed for small business owners and professionals who want to get more value from AI tools. Building on introductory concepts of AI software and potential, you'll explore practical ways to customize AI specifically to your business, improve efficiency, recognize common AI pitfalls and limitations, and automate routine tasks.

This workshop is open to everyone, no matter what level of familiarity or experience with AI you have, and attendance at our first workshop is not a prerequisite to participate in this one.

You will learn how to:

-Build a custom AI assistant
-Train AI on your business, brand, and processes
-Speed up everyday responses and communications
-Know when to trust AI - and when to verify its output
-Explore practical AI automations that you can easily integrate into your business

Through hands-on instruction and guided exercises, you'll leave with actionable strategies you can start using immediately to save time, boost productivity, strengthen your brand, and work smarter.

Carol Chong is a business strategy consultant at Thompson + Chong, helping organizations build clear strategy, true alignment, and real momentum. In this workshop, she brings that same practical lens to AI, showing small business owners and operators how these tools can support everyday business in useful, realistic ways.

Details:

-2-hour hands-on workshop
-Best for: small business owners/operators/staff and not-for-profit professionals who are familiar with AI but want to use it more effectively
