Stigma often stems from misconceptions about FASD and can lead to individuals and families facing discrimination, judgment, and limited access to support services. Challenging stigma is crucial for fostering understanding, empathy, and effective support systems for those affected by FASD.

Introducing... Whitney Landego! Whitney is a Mental Wellness & Recovery Practitioner in the North.
Mental health is an important consideration for people with FASD, despite the challenges they face in accessing mental health services and support. If you are a frontline mental health counsellor, therapist, prevention mentor, crisis worker, substance use professional or community mental health provider, play a part in supporting people with FASD and healthy pregnancies by:

-Using the Mental Health Toolkit
-Watching the Mental Health, Suicidality, and FASD webinar
-Listening to a podcast on Mental Health and FASD
-Learning about how access to housing, location, history of colonization, and other factors contribute to mental health concerns

This is Erin Donovan-Condon, French and English Resource Support Teacher at Ecole Riverside School. Resource teachers in Manitoba support students with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) through the student-specific planning process (working collaboratively with a team that includes parents, classroom teachers, and other specialists). They implement specific strategies, to address learning challenges related to FASD. They also contribute to creating supportive classroom environments and developing individualized plans and adaptations to meet the student's unique learning needs.

Great job Erin and thank you for helping us raise awarness of FASD!

Everyone can play a part in FASD awareness, see what you can do below.
