Build it and they will come!
We always wondered about the numbers of people who use the viewing platform and the trail. So we installed people counters. Very small, non intrusive, smart counters that only count people!
They were installed on Aug 5 of this year and we pulled the numbers off today!
We can only say that we knew the viewing platform and trail were being used, but this is great!
Now we know that this is our busy season and won't continue after the snow flys but wow!
If the numbers hold this way we can expect just short of 5000 people walking the trail and an incredible 31,000 using the viewing platform!
Thanks to all our users for supporting the project!

Our volunteers were able to install some engraved boards today!
If you ordered a board before July 1 2026, please go for a walk on the boardwalk
If you don’t see your board let us know and we will rectify the issue
We had a problem with a computer glitch which affected our internal communication and some orders got lost
Thanks for your patience and for supporting the boardwalk!

Our board members were doing our weekly inspection this morning. There were 18 people enjoying the boardwalk in the hour that we was there! A couple of families with little kids had dip nets and the kids were excited to tell us what they caught. They also looked at the kiosk posters comparing what they caught to what they found! The one boy was a bit sad that he did not see any owls! But he was happy with the critter dipping!
Other people were just out for their daily walk and enjoying the warm weather! Have you been to the boardwalk lately?

It is going to be a busy month in the skies, and the boardwalk and viewing platforms are one of the best places to watch these celestial events. Will we see you there?
Starting during the day on August 12th the moon will partially block the sun in eclipse starting at 11.25am and lasting for just over an hour!
That night we get entertained by the annual Perseids meteor shower! You could see 75-100 meteors per hour starting the 12th!

Later in August we see another lunar eclipse, this time at night!

So look to the skies this August for some great entertainment!

Keep your eyes to the sky in August. There is A LOT going on up there this month!

🌿 Help Keep Grace Lake Beautiful – Leave No Trace 🌿

The Grace Lake Boardwalk & Boreal Trail is a special place for everyone to enjoy. Every year, thousands of visitors come to experience the beauty of our wetlands, wildlife, and peaceful trails. We all have a role to play in protecting it.

Unfortunately, we've recently found litter being left along the trail, including toilet paper, sanitary products, cans, bottles, and other garbage. These items don't belong in nature and can harm wildlife, spoil the experience for others, and create unnecessary work for our volunteers.

Please remember:
🚮 Pack out everything you bring in.
🧻 Do not leave toilet paper or hygiene products in the bush.
🥤 Take all cans, bottles, and food wrappers home with you.
🌲 Leave the trail as beautiful as you found it.

A few extra minutes to carry your garbage out makes a lasting difference for everyone who visits after you.

Thank you for helping us keep Grace Lake clean, safe, and beautiful for future generations.

Pack it in. Pack it out. Leave only footprints.
