Hours of Operation:
• The Food Bank is open to the public every Monday, 9:00-11:00 AM. We also offer a shopping style experience where clients can choose which food items they will enjoy. Our Clients are individuals with low or no income in the Terrace and surrounding communities. We also share bulk food with organizations who are able to cook the food and provide it as single servings to some of
the same individuals.
• Client Identification: An ID must be shown in order to be added to a Household or to open a new Household Account. The Client name, birthdate, gender, address, phone and income is recorded. A photo is required when registering a Household. The Client whose photo is on the Household is the “owner” of the Household. A valid ID is a birth certificate, drivers license, status card, passport, care card or immigration papers.
• Household Address and Phone: One Household account can be registered per address. Households at the same address will be combined into a single Household. If available a phone number is required for every household. Clients are required to provide verification of their address by bringing a utility bill, phone bill or government letter.
• Substitute Pickup: A Household may ask a substitute to pick up food for them if they are unable to attend. The substitute must be registered in the system but doesn’t need to be a Client. If the substitute person is a member of the Household they do not need a note from the Household owner. If they are not a member of the Household they must bring a signed and current dated note from the Household owner every time they pick up food.
• Washroom Use: The Food Bank does not have any washroom facilities available for Client use.
• Banned Clients: Clients who are disruptive, take more food than the posted allowance, that are abusive, intoxicated or found to be selling their food may be refused service. Clients should be aware that video cameras are installed to monitor the distribution area.
• Client Personal Data: In order to operate and deliver services,
the Food Bank needs to collect certain personal information. We respect and uphold an individual’s right to privacy and to protection of his or her personal information. We are committed to ensuring compliance with applicable privacy legislation. Client’s have the right to access their personal records at any time except in exceptional situations.
