We had so much fun joining the 2nd annual International Youth Day. Thank you Volunteer Terrace and Volunteer Terrace Youth Leadership Program for hosting the event again this year.
Our team of youth stepped up and face-painted many happy children, youth and adults.

What happens when you give young people a press pass?

They start noticing things.

The little things.

A story hiding around the corner.
A question that suddenly seems important.
Something everyone walks past — until you stop and look.

During Week 1 of our Youth Summer Camp, our young reporters explored Terrace through a different lens. They received their own press passes, headed out to find stories, interviewed people, filmed, asked questions and discovered just how much there is to see when you start looking like a journalist.

We also got a behind-the-scenes look at local television and learned what happens on the other side of the camera. A huge thank you to Steve Pereira and CFTK TV for welcoming us, answering our many questions and giving our youth a glimpse into the world of broadcasting!

And, of course, no youth newsroom would be complete without a few press conferences...

Our young journalists tackled some very serious questions — including the surprisingly controversial topic of the benefits and harms of bananas. 🍌

There were arguments.
There were questions.
There were strong opinions.
And there was a lot of laughter.

Most importantly, there was curiosity.

Because sometimes the best thing we can give young people isn't an answer.

It's a reason to look closer.

We will be posting photos from our cooking week shortly.

And we're only getting started - three more weeks to go. We still have a few spots open if you would like to join: ages 12-18.

ALERT: DRONE SHOW CANCELLED

Unfortunately, North Star Drone Show is unable to get to Terrace due to the devastating wildfire situation in our province, so tonight’s drone show has been cancelled. Our thoughts are with all communities facing wildfires as well as those hosting evacuees.

Please see the Terrace Riverboat Days page and https://www.riverboatdays.ca/ for other events still happening today and throughout the weekend!

And please also remember to check https://www.terrace.ca for current local burning bans and, if you’re travelling, BC Wildfire Service for current conditions and bans in affect in areas you may be visiting. We can all do our part to help prevent more fires this summer.

Thanks for your understanding and please stay safe!

Today is a Parade Day! Let’s hope the clouds open up and the rain will hold off. People put so much effort and creativity to make their floats.

Another change this year is the route - the parade will move to Lazelle St. due to the construction. We are going to open our doors during the parade if you need to warm up. Come watch with us and celebrate the richness and vibrancy of our small community 🎉🌸💪

🎉 The Riverboat Days Parade route is here! 🎉

The countdown is on, and we’re getting ready to fill the streets of Terrace with music, smiles, and community spirit! 🥳

This year’s parade will wind through downtown Terrace, bringing the celebration right to the heart of the community. Check out the route map below so you can plan where you’ll watch, cheer on your favourite entries, and soak in all the Riverboat Days excitement.

📍 Parade Day: Saturday, August 1
⏰ Coming your way from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Grab your friends, bring your family, and get ready to wave, cheer, and celebrate one of Terrace’s favourite traditions!

See you along the route! 🚂🎶
