Dear Friends,
On April 25, a fire destroyed the picnic shelter at Lakelse Pentecostal Camp. Thankfully, no one was on site and no injuries occurred. The dining hall sustained some exterior heat damage, but the main structure remains intact. (Pictures below)
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Cleanup and repairs will be a priority at our upcoming work bee. While this loss is significant, it also presents an opportunity. The shelter was already due for replacement, and we are now exploring plans to rebuild a larger structure that can better serve camps and events. (see last picture)
There has already been encouraging interest in donated materials, volunteer support, and fundraising efforts. We are aiming to raise over $10,000 to help cover the cost of rebuilding. If you feel led to contribute, we would greatly appreciate your support in creating a new space that will become a cornerstone of the camp.
Because the camp is not currently set up to issue tax receipts you can donate through Terrace Pentecostal Assembly (or Mountain View Assembly, Kitimat Pentecostal Fellowship and Kaien Community Church) for a charitable donation receipt. Please include your name and address in the notes and designate the donation as "Lakelse Camp Repairs" or simply "Camp Repairs"
