🎣 Licence Changes Coming for B.C. Anglers! Get Ready for the 2026-27 Season. The way you buy your freshwater fishing licence is changing. For the 2026-27 season, fishing licences are moving to the WILD system (the same system used for hunting).

What you need to do:
βœ… Register Early: Log in to WILD starting Feb 9 to get your Fish and Wildlife ID (FWID). You can log in using a Basic BCeID (free and quick to obtain online if you don’t already have one) OR, starting Feb 9, a BC Services Card Account for those who live in Canada.
βœ… Say Goodbye to Angler Numbers: Your old number will be retired. Going forward, a FWID will be required to purchase a fishing licence.
βœ… One Stop Shop: Hunters and Anglers can now manage everything in one place!

Key Dates: πŸ“… Feb 9: Registration opens for your new FWID. πŸ“… Early March: 2026-27 Licence pre-sales begin. πŸ“… April 1: New season starts. Note: The WILD system will be down for maintenance February 6 – 9. You will not be able to log in to WILD during this time.

Good News: People who prefer in-person service can register for their FWID and buy licences at FrontCounter BC, Service BC or participating vendor locations.

The BC Outdoors, Art Downs memorial award is designed to carry on Art’s life work of recognizing excellence in writing and a commitment to conservation and the environment. It is awarded annually to the writer who has produced the best information over the past three years, exemplifying the Art Downs philosophy for writing that is factual, accurate, well-researched and focused on the real issues where governments, private or public companies need to be taken to task on environmental infractions.

The BCWF Awards honour individuals and member clubs for hunting, angling, and conservation achievements in 2025. The deadline for the nominations is February 15th, 2026. Awards will be presented at the BCWF’s 70th AGM & Convention on May 1 & 2, 2026 in Salmon Arm.
