We were very lucky and got a little sneak peak of Mike Gouchie at the June coffee house - this Saturday June 13, Mike will be joined by his band The Classics. Join us for an evening of food and music at Carlin Hall!

Mike Gouchie is a Country Recording Artist with deep roots in British Columbia and a voice shaped by life’s hard lessons. Over the years, has had the honour of opening for country legend George Jones on a cross-Canada tour and has shared stages with Alan Jackson, Lonestar, Billy Currington, Jo Nichols, the Neville Brothers and many more. Mike’s journey has been anything but typical — a blend of standing ovations, slammed doors, and everything in between. As a ten-time award-winning recording artist, he’s lived the kind of life most only sing about. Mike's memoir, Shattered Glass, is a raw and unfiltered look behind the music — a story of resilience, faith, and the relentless pursuit of a dream. Through the highs and heartbreaks, we learn that sometimes, the ones who almost made it, have the most powerful stories to tell.

We are looking forward to June! The last coffeehouse of the season is June 6 featuring The Mobley Road Gang, and we are excited to host Mike Gouchie and The Classics on June 13.

June 6 Coffeehouse: doors open at 630, show begins at 7. $5 entry. Coffee and goodies by donation, 50/50 draw, and we are collecting cash and food donations for the Sorrento Food Bank!

Saturday May 2 features The Stephenson Trio at the Carlin Coffeehouse!

The Stephenson Trio (Jane Stephenson; vocals, guitar, mandolin, Larry Stephenson; vocals, guitar, clawhammer banjo, and Don Metz: vocals, bass) became a trio in 2018.

Their classic folk music vibeand sweet solo and harmony vocals with easy charm, support songs with lyrics that tell a good story. This combination has unfolded into an act that has made The Stephenson Trio popular throughout the area. Along with some quick wit and cheery banter, there is a comfortable and easy feeling that The Stephenson Trio brings to each performance as they share their love of music. Sets are filled with songs ranging from old time/traditional, folk/rock/country, as well as original music.

This Saturday, please join us at Carlin Hall for the April edition of the Coffeehouse.

AllenSONG is Nova Scotia born, award-winning songwriter Paul Allen and his British wife and vocalist Petra, who are described as a “Contemporary Folk duo with Soul”.

The essence of AllenSONG music is thought provoking lyrics and well crafted melodies in a fusion of folk, pop and soul. Authentic songs of life and love that represent a soundtrack of the human condition.

Paul has been writing songs and performing since 1972 and was a founding member of the successful 1980's Canadian reggae band “Activate”. After receiving two A.R.I.A. (Alberta Recording Industry Assoc.) songwriting awards in 1990/91, Paul formed recording act “Viewer Discretion” and performed on stage, radio and TV with artists such as Grapes of Wrath, Sarah McLachlan, Spirit of the West and Kenny Shields and Streetheart.

Member Feature: Carlin Hall Community Association

This community arts and cultural centre is located next to Carlin school. The hall has built a brand new stage thanks to community fundraising and grant support; they’ve hosted numerous live music acts and events throughout the year since 1923!
