I’m so sad the races have been cancelled!!! I know outriggers and dragon boaters usually have lots in common and cross over occasionally. I was looking forward to some great races.
Important Ice Dragon Boat Festival Update:
After careful monitoring and consultation, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the Ice Dragon Boat races this year due to poor ice quality on the lake. Safety always comes first, and this decision was not made lightly.
We know this is disappointing news, especially for teams and visitors traveling from out of town, and we truly appreciate your understanding.
The good news: the Ice Dragon Boat Festival is still on! 🎉
All other festival activities will go ahead as planned and have been relocated to Festival Street (50a Street), where you can still enjoy:
• Horse & Wagon Rides
• Ice Carving Demos and Lil’ Chippers activity
• Lion and Dragon Dancers
• Winter Market at the Wellness and Community Connections Centre (4725 43 St)
• Sips & Sweets Tour (at participating businesses)
• Fireworks Show (launched from Lakefront Park)
