Comma Store (Cape Breton Vow) is looking for **1 Summer Staff (Administrative Assistant)** to join our team!

📍 Location: 116 King St Unit 5, North Sydney, NS B2A 3R7
📅 Duration: **May 4 – June 28, 2026 (8 weeks)**
💰 $18/hour | **35 hours/week**
⏱️ Includes **32 hours on-site + 3 hours paid skill development based on your interests**

This is a **Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ)** funded position — a great opportunity to gain real work experience, explore different skills, and be part of a community-focused nonprofit.

✨ What you’ll do:

* Work in-store (customer service, cashier, organizing products & displays)
* Help with appointment management, messages, and basic admin tasks
* Assist with simple social media (photos, posts, replies)
* Support community activities and small events
* Build skills in one area you’re interested in:
→ Social media & marketing
→ Community events
→ Creative product ideas

🎯 We’re looking for someone who is:

* Friendly, reliable, and responsible
* Comfortable talking to customers
* Interested in retail, social media, and community work
* Willing to learn and try different things

🎨 Interest in arts, crafts, or creative activities is considered an asset, especially for supporting future community workshops.

* Age 15–30
* Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee status
* Valid SIN

Warm Thanks from Cape Breton Vow❤️

We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming support we received during our “Warm Xmas for Everyone” campaign. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we successfully raised enough funds to purchase 50 winter hats, 50 pairs of gloves, 100 pairs of socks, and 50 scarves. These were bundled into Winter Essentials Kits and distributed to those in need through partnerships with experienced organizations like the ALLY Centre, as well as directly to vulnerable individuals in our community.

We owe special thanks to the following markets and events for providing us with spaces to Selling for Fundraise for this critical cause:

We also want to extend heartfelt gratitude to community members who shared their valuable suggestions and insights with us. As a newly established local non-profit organization, your advice has been crucial to shaping our efforts.

We’ve also learned from your feedback and recent reports that child poverty remains a heartbreaking issue in our community. Unfortunately, because the winter essentials we purchased for this campaign are adult-sized, we were unable to make donations to local schools. However, we are committed to addressing this need in our next project, which will focus on supporting children in our community. If you have ideas or suggestions for how we can make a meaningful impact, please don’t hesitate to send us a message.

Thank you again for being part of this journey. Together, we’ve turned compassion into action and made this winter a little warmer for those who need it most.

🎄✨ WARM CHRISTMAS FOR EVERYONE CONTINUES ✨🎄

Thanks to the wonderful support from Cape Breton Farmers' Market last week, we’re thrilled to announce that this Saturday, November 2, 2024, we’ll be back with another Selling for Fundraising event at the Christmas Bazaar in Polish Village Hall (954 Victoria Rd, Sydney, NS B1N 1K7), from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM!

Bring home even more adorable items and help us spread warmth to those in need in our community. This time, we’re adding an extra dose of holiday cheer with a Free Santa Photo Booth! Santa himself will be there, ready for interactive photos – don’t forget your camera or phone to capture precious memories with family and friends! 📸🎅

And for parents, here's a little Christmas magic tip: slip Santa a blank card with your child’s name on it, and during the photo, he’ll have them secretly jot down their Christmas wish! Afterward, pick up the wish card from Santa’s helper, so you’ll have the inside scoop on the perfect gift! 🎁
