If you just stepped off the ship and are looking for a warm Cape Breton welcome, follow the aroma of fresh espresso right into the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion! We are located right next to the iconic Big Fiddle.

Whether you’re a traveler exploring our beautiful island for the day or a local out enjoying the harbor hustle, stopping by Steel Grounds Grab & Go makes a real difference. We are a proud social enterprise operated by the Horizon Achievement Centre. Every single freshly brewed coffee, hot latte, and snack we serve directly supports employment and job-training opportunities for our participants.

We are so excited to welcome a new trainee to our cafe! He is currently busy mastering the art of the perfect pour and getting to know our wonderful regulars and we're so proud to watch him develop his skills.

It is an incredible afternoon down at the harbour! The majestic RMS Queen Mary 2 is currently docked right outside our doors, alongside beautiful ships from Celebrity Cruises and Oceania Cruises.

🌟 Did you know the Queen Mary 2 is the world's only active, purpose-built ocean liner? She is built with 40% more steel than a standard cruise ship to slice smoothly through heavy ocean waves, making her a truly rare sight to see up close!

Meet Max from Steel Grounds Cafe!

Max Murphy loves being part of the waterfront community at the Port of Sydney, serving up coffees, lattes, espressos and more at Steel Grounds Cafe.

But coffee isn’t his only passion. Max is also a musician who loves to play and sing, bringing a little extra energy to his days at the Fiddle.

His invitation is simple: stop by, grab a coffee, say hello, enjoy some time on the waterfront and 'Meet Me at the Fiddle.'

Steel Grounds Grab & Go cafe is a social enterprise which serves our local community. The cafe is fully stocked with fresh kitchen food and baked goods prepared at Horizon Achievement Centre.

🏒 Horizon Hockey Pool is BACK! 🏒

Think you know your hockey? Put your picks to the test while supporting Horizon Achievement Centre!

🏒 Pools are $10 each
🏆 First prize is 50% of ticket sales
🎁 Plus two random draws throughout the season — a Horizon sweet tray in December and a $50 local restaurant gift certificate in February!

The season starts September 29, but you have until October 9 at 3:00 PM to get your pool in — and you’ll still receive points from the start of the season.

📋 Pick up a form at Administration or the Steel Grounds Cafe and return completed forms to Shauna or Blayr by October 9. Be sure to check the two boxes on the back! Send us an email to get the link and enter your picks electronically. [email protected]
