This Remembrance Day, join us for a powerful and deeply moving documentary that brings us face-to-face with the realities many veterans continue to live with long after their service ends.
Filmed over two years in and around Pipers Glen, Inverness and Sydney, About Turn: Veterans Transforming Trauma follows a group of Cape Breton veterans on their journey to recover from PTSD, rebuild their lives and find healing.
The film features retired Sgt. Fabian Henry, who runs Veterans For Healing, a clinic dedicated to helping veterans navigate their medical needs and the often-complex process of filing claims with Veterans Affairs.
Behind the scenes of recovery lies another battle: navigating a system where claims can be denied and appeals can take months—or even years—to resolve. Meanwhile, veterans face disproportionately high rates of su***de, underscoring the urgent need for understanding, support and meaningful change.
Intimate, honest and deeply human, About Turn is more than a film about trauma. It is a story of resilience, community and the ongoing responsibility we share to care for those who have served.

What a wonderful way to kick off the Thanksgiving weekend a little early!

We want to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to our Mira location to celebrate Thanksgiving together. It was filled with good food, great company, laughter, and gratitude.

A very special shoutout to our amazing volunteers who generously gave their time to make the evening possible, from cooking and serving to setting up, cleaning up, and everything in between. Your kindness and willingness to pitch in means so much to our team and our community. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Most importantly, we want our clients to know just how much we appreciate you. Thank you for being part of the Veterans For Healing family and for allowing us to share these special moments together.

We’re grateful for our clients, our volunteers, and our entire VFH community. 🧡

This is a special Peer Support where we will be giving thanks to our wonderful clients. Turkey dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m.

Today, the Veterans For Healing team pauses to remember and honour the Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities, and the children who never returned home.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is an opportunity to listen, learn, remember and reflect on the lasting impacts of residential schools and the ongoing journey toward truth, healing and reconciliation.

We recognize that reconciliation is not only about remembering the past , it is about continuing to learn, build understanding, and take meaningful steps toward a more respectful and inclusive future.

We encourage everyone to take time today to listen to Indigenous voices, learn about the history and legacy of residential schools, and reflect on what reconciliation means in our communities.

Please note: Our office is OPEN today, September 30.
