Molly's Mission

Molly's Mission Molly’s desire to ‘Make a Difference’ in lives of other critically ill children is MOLLY’S MISSION. Her love and concern for others created Molly's Mission.

At the age of 9, Molly Wadden was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer called Ewing Sarcoma. Over the next three years, Molly underwent chemotherapy, radiation and multiple surgeries. After almost two years of great test results, the cancer returned. Treatments began again, but eventually, results showed they were not effective. Understanding that her time was growing short, Molly was overcom

e with the need to make a difference in the world, especially for critically ill children like her. Molly's Mission is to support causes that supported Molly and her family through her struggles and make a difference in the lives of children experiencing similar situations. Instead of focusing inward, Molly decided to use her remaining time and musical talents to help others. If you would like to support Molly's Mission, you can send e-transfer donations to:

Molly had the privilege of attending Whitney Pier Memorial School, their continued support and dedication to sharing her message of kindness and giving with students warms our hearts every year. 💜💛🌈

The school’s week-long celebration included student rallies, volleyball tournaments, and of course, “Molly’s Lolly’s” treats. it’s an amazing week filled with fun, compassion, and community, just the way Molly wanted.

Each year, a student is selected as the recipient of Molly’s Kindness Award, recognizing someone who consistently demonstrates caring, empathy, and kindness toward others. This year’s recipient is 🥁🥁🥁🥁 Jenaya Joe! 🎉 (pictured lower right) presented by Principal Maralyn Delaney. Jenaya’s name will be permanently added to the Molly’s Kindness Award plaque, proudly displayed in the school halls for years to come.

In addition to celebrating kindness, Whitney Pier Memorial School’s fundraising efforts throughout the week raised an incredible 🥁🥁🥁🥁 💲2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ for Molly’s Mission! 💥🎉💥

Continuing a tradition that began during the very first kindness celebration held in Molly’s honour, this donation will be directed to Caleb's Courage ! This honors Molly’s wishes to support the amazing work and life-changing care that Caleb’s Courage provides to superheroes fighting BIG battles every day. Cheque presented to Nichole MacArthur ( Caleb’s Mom ) and Jeff Wadden ( Molly’s Dad ) by Vice Principal Charolette Carew.

WPM’s commitment to ensuring kindness, caring, and empathy as a part of student’s education is a true reflection of its incredible teachers and staff. Teaching young people to be good humans may be the most important lesson of all.

Thank you WPM, for keeping Molly’s spirit alive and inspiring the next generation to lead with kindness. 🌈💜💛

We are excited to announce in ADDITION to the two FREE Molly’s Mission charging stations at the Cape Breton Regional emergency department. There are now 2️⃣0️⃣+ MORE units installed at various critical areas of hospitals and emergency care centres throughout the Eastern Health District! Did we mention these are FREE to use!!!

Because of the overwhelming positive response at the emergency department, the program was expanded to make sure that kids, loved ones and family members never have the barrier of communication. The simplicity of being able to charge a phone and have contact with loved ones during stressful moments is more than convenience, it’s peace of mind and mental well-being. The ability to charge a child’s game machine or phone while waiting to be seen by a doctor or even during a loved one’s surgery is something Molly lived first hand and felt the positive distraction from it.

A special thanks to Paige Westbury ( pictured ) and the entire Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation staff for supporting this project from idea, to delivery. It would not have been possible without Paige and all the connections the Foundation had throughout the district.

Sometimes health care doesn’t come in the form of treatments and medications, sometimes it’s connecting with loved ones and the distraction that charged electronics bring.

A big thank you to Shelly Gerow and Arachnia Designs for all the amazing printing support for this and other Molly’s Mission projects!
