Animal Services is aware of a German Shepherd mix, black and tan, appears injured, running at large near Hadden Road, Pefferlaw and surrounding areas.

Animal Services is working daily on trying to contain and has a live trap set that is being monitored. We kindly ask that the public not attend the location or try to feed as Animal Services have several feeding stations to try to contain her.

The Virginia Beach Marina dock reconstruction is underway. After a spring of high water, the water levels have come down to a workable level. Many thanks to Manthau Marine Construction. We are sorry for any inconvenience Mother Nature has caused.

On May 5, we wear red to break the silence. Red Dress Day is a solemn, powerful call to action for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people (MMIWG2S) crisis. Each crimson garment swaying in the wind represents a "presence in the absence"—a mother, daughter, sister, or friend whose story was cut short by systemic violence and neglect. It is a haunting reminder that while these women are gone, they are never forgotten, and their families are still seeking the justice they deserve.
This is more than just a day of awareness; it is a demand for change. Indigenous women continue to face disproportionate rates of violence, yet their disappearances too often go ignored. By wearing red, we honor the spirits of the stolen and stand in solidarity with the survivors and advocates fighting for safety and accountability. No more stolen sisters. Let the red dresses serve as a beacon, calling their spirits home and reminding the world that we will not stop looking, and we will not stop speaking their names. 🌹
