A species at risk support project sponsored by NB Wildlife Trust Fund is well underway thanks to all involved! We are setting up a 'cattle shelter', intending it to be used by barn swallows, a native species at risk that nests in human-made structures.

Our Biodiversity Coordinator has been diligently setting these plans in motion, we had TBLC Landscapes & Excavation (first pic) install the screw piles which will support the structure, the team at Norrads delivered and unloaded the supplies, and of course, big thanks to the Bettles for helping to support barn swallows on their property!

Sometimes it takes a lot of people to make projects like this happen, we're so grateful to have made the partnerships we've made that support our work and allow us to the support species at risk!

Some photos from our Birds Bioblitz on Monday evening! Thank you everyone for joining us on this beautiful night for birding, to the Shipleys for allowing us to host this event on their property, and to Paul Martin for fun and informative guidance! We were able to identify 31 bird species (32 if you count the falcon - check it out on our iNaturalist page if you can help us identify it!)

This was the first of 4 bioblitz events we will be hosting this summer sponsored by NB Wildlife Trust Fund - next one is plants ๐ŸŒฟ So keep an eye on our socials if you're interested in that event coming up next month.

Swipe to see some bird photos plus other loveable critters ๐Ÿ˜Š Thanks to Jenna Ross for the first two photos!

Swipe to see before & after! Thanks so much to the Rotary Club of Hampton, New Brunswick, Canada for assisting us with the task of weeding, planting, and mulching our pollinator garden at the Hampton Rotary Nature Park today. We cleaned it up and planted 12 native species to help fill it out and provide support for pollinators as they establish and bloom! ๐Ÿ

The Hammond River Angling Association is expanding their fishing derby to include Ritchie Lake! This weekend come check out the fishing festivities and chat with both HRAA and KWRC staff about all things water and wildlife ๐Ÿ˜Š

WEโ€™RE CASTING A WIDER NET! ๐ŸŽฃ

HRAAโ€™s Family Fishing Derby boundaries have officially expanded! This year, derby fishing is eligible throughout the entire Hammond River watershed, that means all lakes, brooks, and main stem river pools are fair game for catch-photo-release fun! And nowโ€ฆ drumroll pleaseโ€ฆ ๐Ÿฅ

RITCHIE LAKE IN QUISPAMSIS IS NOW PART OF OUR BOUNDARY! ๐ŸŸโœจ

To celebrate, weโ€™re adding a brand-new Family Fun Award to the prize lineup:

๐Ÿ† BEST RITCHIE FISH! ๐Ÿ†

Whether youโ€™re fishing from shore, casting from a kayak, helping your little angler reel in their first catch, or just trying not to win โ€œBest Snag,โ€ thereโ€™s something for every family at this derby!

This exciting expansion is part of HRAAโ€™s ongoing engagement with the Town of Quispamsis and the Ritchie Lake Management Advisory Committee, as we continue working together to connect more families with local lakes, rivers, conservation, and outdoor fun.

HRAA will have a booth set up at Ritchie Lake from 9am-2pm on both Saturday and Sunday- we'll have some loaner rods you can use, worms for sale, and you can learn all about lake health and how you can get involved!

So grab your rods, rally the family, and get ready to make some reel memories, and be sure to add Ritchie Lake- the "lake of the woods" into your derby destination planning!

๐ŸŽฃ Only $25 for your entire family
๐Ÿ• Free pizza lunch both days
๐ŸŽ Kids goodie bags
๐Ÿ† Thousands in prizes
๐Ÿšค Grand door prize draw with Uber Rob
๐Ÿ“ Now including Ritchie Lake!
