We are also dedicated to the promotion and preservation of our hunting and fishing heritage. The Sussex Fish & Game Association continues its efforts to allow young and old to enjoy Wildlife and Nature habitats through environmental conservation, hunting, and fishing through the several programs outlined below. The fish pond was developed to provide the opportunity for physically and mentally chal
lenged youth and the elderly in our local nursing homes or those who are unable fish our local rivers and lakes to have the experience of getting out for the day to catch a fish or two. Our club provides everything to go fishing at no charge. Our Annual Fishing Derby held in June allows youth, families, and single parents participate in conjunction with NB Fish days allowing families to fish without purchasing a license. We provide a Big Breakfast for all participants. Our club provides prizes for all youth who participates as well as prizes for 1st,2nd and 3rd prizes for the youth and adult winners. The Annual Hunter Awareness Day held in September allows families to spend the day out at the range participating in hunting activities such as Shot Gun, Rifle and Hand Gun target shooting as well as Long Bow target shooting. Prizes are given to all youth participants. With trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes for youth and adults with the highest score. BBQ lunch is available. The Sussex Fish & Game Association has partnered with the Kennebecasis Watershed Restoration Committee allowing us to support many restoration projects, further research, and ongoing education.
