✨ One year. Five women. Two children. Countless lives changed.

As our Big Ideas Grant 2.0 journey with the Foundation for Black Communities comes to a close, we’re pausing to reflect — and to celebrate what’s possible when communities invest in each other. 💛
Through the Welcome House, we provided safe housing and employment support that helped Black women and their children build real, lasting stability.

One story that stays with us: a woman trained as a doctor in Cuba arrived without speaking English. Through sheer determination — and the right support — she completed her pharmacist job training and landed full-time employment in her field. 🙌🏾

That’s the power of believing in people.

None of this would have been possible without the Foundation for Black Communities , the Government of Canada, and every single person who showed up for this work. Thank you. 🤍

We’re not stopping here. We’re actively seeking funding to grow this program and continue building pathways to opportunity, stability, and economic inclusion.

The foundation is laid. The work continues. 💪🏾

🌍 New country. New beginnings. New financial tools.
On Feb 21 & 28, we hosted financial literacy workshops specially designed for newcomers and refugees — because navigating finances in a new country shouldn’t feel overwhelming. 💙
Thank you to for sponsoring this important work and helping us show up for our community! 🙌

What an incredible day at the Pitch Contest hosted by the amazing Jackee Kasandy (Jackee Kas), CEO of Black Entrepreneurs & Businesses of Canada Society (BEBC), and her powerhouse team — with support from the Black Opportunity Fund 🙌🏾🖤

The room was filled with bold ideas, creative energy, and game-changing business pitches designed to uplift communities and spark real, lasting impact.

We were thrilled to connect with the team from the Foundation for Black Communities , including Chief Operating Officer Nneka Otogbolu MScIM, MBA, BSc., and Board members Liban Abokor and Judith Bosire. Shoutout to mentor Paul Brassard— It was a pleasure meeting you! And of course, always good to see from Black Opportunity Fund CEO Craig and Andrea Chambers, MBA, BSc.

It was a day of inspiration, laughter, and powerful connections — we left feeling energized and hopeful for what’s ahead.

Huge congratulations to the 9 amazing finalists who pitched their ventures, and a special shoutout to the winners:

We’re incredibly honoured to be recipients of the Big Ideas Grant 2.0 from the Foundation for Black Communities.

This powerful support fuels our ongoing work to drive economic growth, spark innovation, and uplift Black communities through housing advocacy and direct support.

Over the past four years, we’ve seen too many Black individuals and families—especially refugee claimants and newcomers—struggle with unsafe, unaffordable housing. Many face discrimination, overcrowding, and inhumane living conditions.

In just the last three months, we’ve supported 104 families and individuals through eviction prevention, housing placements, and household setups. With this grant, we’re scaling our efforts to ensure dignified housing and economic inclusion for all.

Thank you to the Foundation for Black Communities for believing in our vision and investing in a better future. Together, we’re building a stronger, more just ecosystem!
