At SPARK Foundation, we believe education goes beyond the classroom; it includes understanding our history, identity, and the communities we come from.

As Surrey moves toward recognizing Girmit Day in May 2026, we’re inviting Fijian youth to help shape how this history is taught, remembered, and shared.

From contributing to the proclamation to helping design a youth-focused community event, this is an opportunity to turn learning into leadership.

🚨 Big news for Canadian youth!

After 3 years of advocacy, the call for a UN Youth Delegate Program (UNYDP) is now being shared through the Senate and House of Commons 🇨🇦
What is UNYDP?

It’s a fully funded government initiative that would select young Canadians (18–29) to join Canada’s official delegation to the United Nations. Delegates would represent Canadian youth on the world stage — at the UN General Assembly and beyond — influencing global policy on education, climate, peace, and more.

📌 Why it matters:
Ensures equity and access — youth from all backgrounds can participate.
Puts Canada in step with countries like Germany, Ghana, the Netherlands, and the USA who already have UNYDPs.
Embeds youth voices in global decision-making.

📣 The campaign is live now!
We’re calling on Canadian youth and youth-led orgs to submit letters of support by Sept 12, 2025. These will be delivered to Global Affairs Canada and Parliament to show national momentum.
