The Semiahmoo and White Rock Rotary Clubs worked together to pack backpacks for students at four of our local elementary schools.
For families facing financial challenges, the cost of school supplies can be a real burden. These backpacks are about more than pencils, notebooks and school supplies - they're about making sure every child has the tools they need to walk into their classroom feeling prepared, confident and ready to learn.
It's a simple act of service with a meaningful impact: Two Rotary Clubs. Four schools. One community coming together to make a difference.

Our speaker on last Thursday, Robyn Curtis, chairs the Climate Change Action Group (CCAG) for the Rotary Club of Chilliwack. She leads local environmental education, carbon reduction strategies, and organized the prominent multi-year Chilliwack Rotary Climate Fairs. Her presentation was very educational and inspiring!

We also recognized our member Lily for her exceptional club service efforts!

"This morning at our weekly Semiahmoo Rotary Club meeting, we had the privilege of hosting Don Seitz, CART Chair for Rotary District 7680 in North Carolina.

Don shared an inspiring presentation on The CART Fund (Coins for Alzheimer's Research Trust). It's incredible to see how the simple concept of collecting pocket change has grown into a powerful funding engine for top-tier scientific research aimed at finding a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Don's passion for the cause and his leadership in coordinating district-wide fundraising efforts truly motivated everyone in the room.

Beyond the familiar "spare change" approach, Don also highlighted several other meaningful ways to support The CART Fund. He encouraged members to consider automatic monthly donations as a simple, hassle-free way to provide consistent funding for researchers year-round. He also spoke about legacy giving and bequests, reminding us that including The CART Fund in our estate planning is a profound way to leave a lasting impact in the fight against Alzheimer's—ensuring that future generations may live in a world free from this devastating disease.

Whether it's a handful of coins, a monthly bank draft, or a gift in your will, every contribution moves us closer to a cure. Thank you, Don, for visiting us and opening our eyes to the many ways we can make a difference.

When Rotary first dreamed of a polio-free world, we knew we couldn't do it alone. Thanks to Rotary members and our partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), over 3 billion children have been immunized since 1998.
