COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT
إِنَّا لِلَّٰهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ
It is with profound sadness that the Global Peace Society mourns the passing of Aslam Hayat (1933–2026), a respected community leader, mentor, humanitarian, and one of the founders of the Global Peace Grassroots Movement.
Brother Aslam dedicated his life to serving others, building bridges between communities, and supporting initiatives that promoted peace, justice, understanding, and human dignity. He believed in bringing people together regardless of faith, culture, ethnicity, or political affiliation, and his wisdom, kindness, and generosity touched countless lives.
For many of us, he was more than a community elder. He was a source of guidance, encouragement, and inspiration. His unwavering commitment to humanity and his belief in the power of unity will remain an enduring part of his legacy.
His Janazah prayer will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, immediately following Zuhr Salah at 1:30 PM at Surrey Jamea Masjid, 12407 72 Avenue, Surrey, BC. The burial will follow at Victory Memorial Park, 14831 28 Avenue, Surrey, BC. We invite all those whose lives were touched by Brother Aslam to join us in praying for him and supporting his family during this difficult time.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all those whose lives were enriched by his presence.
May Allah (SWT) forgive him, shower His mercy upon him, grant him the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous, and give patience and strength to his loved ones during this difficult time.
"His kindness, wisdom, and commitment to humanity will continue to inspire us."
