Hunters. Anglers. Voters. 🎣🦌

BC is home to 370,000 PAL holders, 575,000 anglers and 105,000 licensed hunters. That’s one of the largest single-issue constituencies in the province, and it votes.

We asked every party to commit in writing to three things:
✅ Enshrine public access to Crown land for hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation into law
✅ Legislate $200M per year for fish, wildlife and habitat management including a commitment to 50,000 hectares of controlled burns per year and a $1 billion watershed security fund
✅ Oppose the federal fi****ms confiscation and buyback, and keep provincial and municipal police focused on public safety

Join us for an important update on the issues shaping the future of hunting, fishing, fi****ms, land title, and outdoor access in British Columbia with Member of Parliament from Nanaimo-Ladysmith Tamara Kronis and BCWF Executive Director Jesse Zeman.

This is a valuable opportunity to hear where things stand, understand what changes may be on the horizon, and ask your questions directly. Whether you’re a hunter, angler, sport shooter, or simply someone who cares about responsible access to B.C.’s lands and waters, we encourage you to attend and stay informed.

Confirmed: the BC NDP and the BC Conservatives will both be at our virtual town hall.

On Monday, Oct 19, from 5 to 6 PM PT, each party’s representative gets the same questions, in the same words, with the same time to answer:
Will they legislate public access to Crown land, rivers and lakes?
Will they legislate $200 million a year for fish, wildlife and habitat?
Will they oppose the federal fi****ms buyback?

Then it’s your turn, with a live audience Q&A.

The article continues: As stated by the LSIB, when the cultural burn was first announced in 2025, with the return to conduct traditional ciki’laxm (cultural burning), the hope is to restore the land’s traditional ecosystems and ensure its health for the future.

The reduction of sagebrush cover from the burn will support an increase in the growth of native grass communities with Sandberg’s bluegrass, Bluebunch wheatgrass, needle and thread grass, and Idaho fescue as well as other culturally important plants such as sp’iƛ’m (bitterroot) and smətsnaləkʷ (desert parsley).

The BC Wildlife Federation is also supporting the burn, and local fire departments, such as the Oliver Fire Department, sent members to assist and receive training.

The second phase, covering up to approximately 165 hectares, was originally set to take place in October 2025. However, the BCWS strike at the time caused the project to be delayed.

In addition to helping restore the ecosystem’s health, the cultural burn is also aimed at building further collaborative relationships.

The first phase of the burn in 2025 covered an area of approximately 280 hectares.

Meet Dawne Deeley. She's hunted in BC since 2011, represented Canada at the IPSC World and European Championships, and is a reigning national champion in her division.

She's also a BCWF life member.

"I've represented Canada on the world stage, passed every check and followed every rule. Licensed owners like me aren't the problem."

Licensed fi****ms owners are athletes, hunters and conservationists. They aren't a public safety threat.

Share this with someone who thinks licensed owners are the problem.

Find your candidates, introduce yourself, and send our short questionnaire. A personal note from a voter in their riding is hard for any campaign to ignore.
